Component for administrating software updates for sellers of downloadable products via VirtueMart shopping cart.


When a user has bought a downloadable product in your web shop and the order is listed as completed in VirtueMart after the payment has been done, the user gets an e-mail with a download ID and downloads the product.

When a new version of the product is released, it must be possible for the buyer to go to a menu item called Updates to login at www.yourdomain.com and get a list of updates for earlier bought downloadable products. Data are taken from the VirtueMart database tables. If no updates are available a text is shown telling the user this.

If you have special orders - bundle orders and so on - you can have these listed so the customers also will be able to get updates.

AND: We have extended the Report from Virtue Mart so you can select many views incl. types, extra sales and more.........
The component allows existing customers to download updates for purchased products.

Firstly, you should create a directory for updates on the web server. You can use FTP or JoomlaXplorer to do so.
For your own security: If you can, please use a directory ANYWHERE OUTSIDE OF THE WEBROOT.
Component setup:
Select menu item VersionUpdater -> Configuration

Here you are supposed to input the name of a catalog, where the updates will be located (as default – root catalog of the Website - could be /var/www/www.mysite.com/secure)
Select menu item VersionUpdater -> ListUpdates

Here you can preview existing updates or add new ones. To add a new update press the button 'NEW'.
On the showed up page you must enter the following information:
- Update Name – Users will see the name of Update while downloading.
- Update File – Users will download that update file. You must select this file from the list of uploaded updates, or upload the new file. If you upload the new one, please refresh the page to populate the list of files.
- Product – product choosing from the list for which that update is supported.
- Comment – Users will see the following update description.
Select menu item VersionUpdater -> Tracking

Here is presented the information about users and the updates downloaded by users.
VersionUpdater -> Additional download rules

Here you can add rules to allow or disallow updates downloads to selected users.
VersionUpdater -> Additional payments

Here you can add payments, which are not registered in VirtueMart. This payments you will be able to add to the VirtueMart reports which will be shown in our component.
VersionUpdater -> VM Reports

This option allows you to view the VirtueMart product sales of a specific time range. You can filter results by order status and add to the report additional payments from 'VersionUpdater -> Additional payments'.
Front-end:

After the user have passed authorization on component page, he is granted access to download updates for all products purchased by him. The user cannot view updates for other products and must be logged in with the user name used during the purchase. If no updates are available a text telling this is displayed.
Additional download rules:
Also user will not be able to view updates disallowed for him on 'additional donwload rules' page, and the other hand he will see the additional updates allowed for him.
